EMESE CUHORKA & CSABA MOLNÁR (HU)

En–Knap Group (SI)

Emese Cuhorka is a dancer, teacher, and choreographer who graduated from the Budapest Contemporary Dance Academy. Since 2007, she has been working with Adrienn Hód, and in 2009, she became a member of Hodworks, a critically acclaimed contemporary dance company. Cuhorka is known for her innovative approach to dance, focusing on the recontextualization of subcultures and an experimental use of forms and performance formats. Her work explores the boundaries of dance and theater, creating evocative, thought-provoking performances.

As a performer and co-creator, Cuhorka has been involved in several award-winning works, with six of her pieces receiving the prestigious Rudolf Lábán Award. Notably, the production Sea Lavender earned the Special Prize from the Hungarian Theatre Critics, and its rehearsal process was documented in the film The Euphoria of Being, which won the Main Prize at the Locarno Film Festival and the Human Rights Prize at the Sarajevo Film Festival.

Csaba Molnár, a dancer and choreographer, also graduated from the Budapest Contemporary Dance Academy and later completed his studies at P.A.R.T.S. in Brussels. In 2010, he joined Hodworks, where his artistic practice focuses on reconciling radical extremes and transforming intimate, personal experiences into universal theatrical expressions. Molnár’s work is characterized by its ability to juxtapose different forms of expression, creating performances that are both provocative and liberating.

Molnár has co-created eight pieces that have received the Rudolf Lábán Award, underscoring his impact on the contemporary dance scene. His collaborations with Cuhorka have resulted in a range of celebrated performances that challenge conventional dance narratives and highlight the complexities of human emotions and identity.

En–Knap, founded by Iztok Kovač in 1994,  has been active as a dance group, a production house and a professional, permanent ensemble (since 2007), making it the oldest ensemble for contemporary dance in Slovenia. It is renowned for its innovative collaborations and international ensemble, diverse repertoire and cutting-edge productions, spanning stage performances, dance films, and virtual reality projects.
