GONG Sahne
11 May, Ljubljana (SI)
Duration: 40 minutes
GONG is a non-verbal dance theater performance tracing a person’s life through its defining stages: from the innocence of birth, through a playful and curious childhood, to the exhilarating discoveries of youth. It moves into the complexities of self-discovery, shaped by life’s pressures and external influences, exploring times of weakened will, inner conflicts, and the build-up of suppressed emotions that bring one to the brink of crisis. Ultimately, the piece arrives at a powerful moment of realization and transformation, capturing the essence of life’s journey.
This deeply personal work is influenced by the Three Treasures and Butoh Dance, drawing on a unique form honed by the performer over 12 years. The evolving practice visualizes images and emotions through the body, connecting individual experience to the universal. GONG reminds us that truth and reality lie within, and that by embracing our own existence, we can connect more fully with others and the universe.
